Erin is an actor, director, and writer living in Chicago. The connection between mind and body as an artist is something that has always driven her. Using her movement as a tool, she is inspired by the way people can reach out and touch the world around them, and in turn, move audiences. She believes that art, in its most inherent form, is connection. As many ways we can connect with ourselves, listening to the way our bodies flow and react with the world, we can connect with audiences.
Most recently, she played Beelzebub, and various roles, in The Tragedy of Doctor Faustus at Cornservatory Theater. Cast for her unique ability for movement, she portrayed all of the seven deadly sins through mask work. She also played Katherine in the staged reading of Off-White: Or The Arab House Party Play by Alyssa Haddad-Chin. Currently, she continues her studies through Annoyance Theater’s improv courses as well as a weekly group meeting with friends to dissect Shakespeare’s sonnets.
Graduating from UC Santa Barbara, she received a BFA in Acting with honors and was awarded the Dilling Yang Scholarship for Excellence in Dramatic Art. She has had the privilege of acting in some amazing projects at UCSB, ranging from new works through LAUNCHPAD all the way to the classics of Shakespeare. She’s traveled the world with her craft, performing in Italy and Prague. The most recent film she worked on, Dionysia, screened at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Last summer, returning from her work with the Prague Shakespeare Company in Henry V, she worked at Indiana Repertory Theater as the assistant director for Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. And, for her capstone project at UCSB, she presented her full-length play, My Friend, Fletcher, in a staged reading. Before beginning her studies at UCSB, Erin has trained at the Actor’s Training Center in Wilmette and Northwestern Cherub’s Program for Playwrights.
In her free time, you can catch Erin exploring new coffee places, or staying active in any new way she can find. She loves connecting with her body, whether it be through yoga, aerial training, running, or weightlifting. For over a year, she has taken on training in aerial silks, rope, trapeze, and lyra from Actor’s Gymnasium in Evanston, Seventh Dimension Dance Studio in Santa Barbara, and Christina McCarthy. As a coffee enthusiast, Erin’s favorite drink is a sparkling americano sweetened with a little agave.
